DN149 - Finnian Kelly: How To Achieve Financial Happiness

DN149 - Finnian Kelly: How To Achieve Financial Happiness

November 17, 2020

Can you have money and not be happy? Can you have money and be contented? Can you be financially and spiritually abundant? According to our podcast guest for today, Mr. Finnian Kelly, the answer to all of these questions is YES. Yes, you could be financially abundant but not happy, and you can be financially abundant and be fulfilled. What made him realized that? Is he in the right position to be saying so? Let’s have a quick recount of Finnian’s earlier life.

As a boy, Finnian felt his parents are not interested in what he does and he felt abandoned and unloved. That made a big hole in his life. He tried filling that hole with the achievement of external things. He was driven by materialistic success. He began accumulating wealth, lived in a ski resort, owned multiple 7-figure businesses, received multiple industry awards, and was married to the love of his life. He thought those material achievements will fill the void in his heart- the feeling of being unloved and unappreciated. But the feeling of being lost came back after her wife left him. He was again in the dark, losing his way. According to him, when there’s nothing left to chase, you have no choice but to go inwards. He looked for divine guidance, and he found it. He worked with a spiritual teacher and discovered the power of breathwork. He then found himself, returned to wholeness, and remembered that he is love, abundance, and manifestor. Today, he is teaching everyone that YOU are too. You are love, abundance, and a powerful manifestor.

He is huge in teaching people how to be financially happy. How to be financially abundant and happy and contented at the same time. Practical tips on achieving this including finding spirituality, being present, being intentional, discovering breath work, self-compassion, journaling, books, and morning routine. Be sure that you are ready to take notes and to get them to action because you’ll be receiving huge nuggets from today’s episode!

Knowledge Nuggets

[1:53] Financially happy vs financially abundant: Financially happy is being happy and wealthy NOW. Versus just having money but not fulfilled.

[3:31] It about connecting money with spirituality. Then we can start living in the present because being present is magical.

[5:47] Live life where you feel happy, fulfilled, and flourishing. If you go against your life's purpose, you end up dying

[9:26] You need to intentionally work through life. Be in one with the present moment.

[11:39] Realize that you can create a way out of what you're feeling right now. Self-compassion, tenderness, and being mindful will help you not harshly criticize yourself

[14:20] How to find your way: Breath work. Books. Being around people who you are inspired by. Meditate. Journaling

[22:40] Morning routine: Wake up, smile, set my intentions for the day, do clearing breaths, calm myself down a bit, be present, look for positiveness then write down a couple of gratitude things. Set intentions, don't set structures

[27:42] Little behavior changes the feedback loop, then you start feeling better and starts going to the cycle before you know it, you have an incremental change

[38:20] Paying debts vs investing

[39:30] Money is a magnifier. If you have a hole, the money will make it bigger. Fill up that hole first while you don't have much money

[43:30] You are not your feelings.

[44:30] If you are happy with where you are, why will you keep operating on the same system? What will you lose? What's the risk of not taking action?

DN147 - Brant Menswar: How To Take Control Of Your Success

DN147 - Brant Menswar: How To Take Control Of Your Success

November 9, 2020

Do you feel lost? Do you sometimes feel you are not living with purpose? Do you feel overwhelmed or that you don’t deserve the level of success you now have? Brant Menswar, our podcast guest for today, shares an interesting perspective of why you may feel that way. He says we need to find our core values and, discover our non-negotiables and move forward with deliberate intentions. He even shares an assessment on how you’ll understand yourself in this aspect! His reasoning is so compelling that I had to take the test after our chat. I am excited that you, our dear DreamNation tribe will get to learn about it today!

Brant is a former rock star in the music industry, but now he is rocking the speaking stage. The reason behind though why he made the pivot from the music industry is a whole touching and moving story. His oldest son was diagnosed with rare blood cancer in 2012. At one time, the doctor said there is nothing more they can do and that they’ll lose their son within 24 hours. Brant called his brother about the sad news. His brother made a YouTube video about their situation and a couple of doctors knowledgeable about the rare disease reached out. Then the thing they thought was impossible happened, Theo’s life is saved! Brant had a lot of realizations thinking back about the talk they had on that night. He said if he had known his non-negotiables that time, the things that really matter to him, that talk would have been different. Those realizations and the fact that he did not want to be away from his family for several days, made him pivot to the speaking space.

In this podcast, Brant shares how you could also be a good speaker. You’ll also get to learn why he is a core values activist and the depth of its effect on your success. The engaging vibe from Brant will want you to devour every knowledge nugget he shared (which you definitely should!). We hope you have your notes ready because you will want to re-listen to this episode or review the wisdom shared by Brant! You will also understand why he says you are enough, and how to deal with negative thoughts that may sway you from achieving success. Get ready to be fired up!

Here’s What You Missed

  • The difference between speakers and presenters. Which one should you be?
  • What are your black sheep values?
  • Why you should figure out your core values and how to do it
  • What does it means when you say you’re enough?
  • Putting happiness on things that matters most to you- why?
  • How to deal with negative thoughts.

Knowledge Nuggets

[6:27] There are two types of people in that world. There are speakers and there are presenters. In my opinion, it's 95% presenters and maybe 5% are speakers. There are a bunch of people who are good at presenting information but don't have the edutainment factor that you need to carry a large room.

[8:14] On how to have 'edutainment' ability: You've got to own your content. You've got to be an expert in your content.

[16:35] Black sheep values: The things that matter most to us in our life.

[17:01] If I would have figured out these non-negotiables for myself, you know, they would have been filled with the things that matter most to me and not with whatever my crazy emotions were feeling at that time. And since then, I just decided that I needed to write this book and become an expert in what drives us in during those moments. And so what drives us are these core values that we can use as a foundation to make good decisions.

[19:52] You are not a wizard and you are not going to control the outcome. You can only control the deliberate intention that goes into making decisions. And so what is in that deliberate intention and the answer is these black sheep values.

[24:09] It makes it really hard for you to feel good and confident about what you're doing when there's no evidence of the things that you say matter most in your life.

[25:14] You are already enough. And anybody telling you any different is a snake oil salesman. If you are not feeding your sheep then they are going to wreak havoc in your lives

[26:38] When you have proof, you don't need belief. Your WHAT- those values and the WHY- your purpose, those are static. They don't change. It's how you honor the values that change.

[29:35] I want people to stop putting your happiness on an outcome and start putting your happiness on honoring these things that matter most.

[32:21] Brant's black sheep: My purpose to creatively impact people's lives by authentically providing hope.

[33:53] The fact that I have discovered my non-negotiables, I have chosen my purpose and I'm living in alignment with those things is just as rare. Just figure your stuff out, choose a purpose that's in alignment with those things that matter most and watch how your life can transform

[35:14] The more successful you are, the more you're going to doubt yourself. You start to feel like maybe you don't deserve it, or you haven't earned it.

[38:11] On dealing with negative thoughts: They want to grab that wheel and steal your steer your life into the ditch, and you can't allow that to happen. So they can have a voice, they can have a seat on the bus, but they are never going to touch that wheel.

Stu grew up as a shy, introverted kid. He thought he was born that way. He accepted that between the two of him and his brother, he's the shier one and his brother is the outgoing one. But things change for him when he joined a network marketing business where he got his first deep taste of entrepreneurship. There he learned to talk to people, how to go out of his shell and to just get better with people. It felt like he developed a second identity. He traveled to ‘find himself’ for eight months, but he got diagnosed with testicular cancer. That’s when he discovered the real secret to building relationships: vulnerability.

He just discovered the real secret to communication, relationship-building, and self-awareness. Today, he teaches everyone that how we interact with people - and if we can do it effectively - shapes our life. In this podcast, he also shared his dream job: working with his model mentor. Discover how he was able to land his dream job, how he strives hard to qualify for it, and how you too can find your life’s direction. Be prepared to turn into the better relationship builder that you should be to accelerate your business fast, today!

Here’s What You Missed

  • How to have meaningful relationships
  • The power of modelling
  • What is true success
  • Can you learn anything?
  • Step by step tips to taking action

Knowledge Nuggets

[2:04] If you're in business and you're not good with people, you're not going to be a successful at business, no matter what business you're in.

[5:42] Beauty and pureness in the life in having conversations with whether it's people you love or random strangers in a line, in a grocery store that you got to learn to come out of that shell. So you can truly experience like the fullest parts of life.

[8:30] I was so vulnerable with people and sharing that I would notice instantly people would open up to me and I could have the purest connection just because I was vulnerable. If you want true, genuine, real, authentic, the purest connection and relationships you can have in your life, that you have to have vulnerability.

[12:27] Find someone who has what you want and model them, and then reach out to them very, very persistently and see how you can add value to them.

[14:00] Success without fulfillment is the ultimate failure.

[15:30] By building the right connection and by being an effective communicator and networker, that you can literally open any door of opportunity.

[21:44] Success breeds success and failure can't breed success. What are three things that I could take at the end of the day and go, man, I just dominated this today. And then you carry that into the next day, and that allows you to build success on success.

[26:28] Just because someone else has something doesn't mean that they were born with that or everything can be learned

[28:10] How to take action: 1. Visualizing process which will take 3 minutes. literally imagine your head as a file cabinet. And imagined thoughts of, I can't do this. I'm not good enough, whatever those negative thoughts, literally imagine them being pulled out of the cabinet file and being thrown away, and then imagine taking these positive, empowering beliefs, and then putting them now in your file cabinet, which is your head and just visualize that. Do over and over and you're literally rewiring your brain. 2. A shitty plan today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow because tomorrow doesn't exist. As you keep executing on this shitty action, eventually it gets better and better and better and then you'll turn out to be phenomenal.

Here’s What You Missed

  • How to get away from abusive relationships
  • Tips on surviving and winning your business’ first year
  • Where to find your mentor
  • Investment first or debt?
  • How to start a brand and partnering with other brands to make money

Knowledge Nuggets

[4:23] I knew that I wanted. I want my family to dictate my schedule instead of the other way around

[5:19] It has been important for me to honor where I am on or where I came from, but then also honor, what else I want out of life and where else I want to be and what else I want to do.

[9:26] There's a standard that I'm operating in because it's a standard in which I was raised.

[11:21] On getting away from an abusive relationship: My life is too valuable for me to throw my life away for this person. That was the first time I chose myself and I really chose my happiness and chose my joy and realize how important it is to do that.

[14:04] Have you done everything possible? Have you exhausted every single option to make sure that your business is operating right?

[14:43] The first couple of years of business is throwing spaghetti on the wall and see what sticks.

[16:45] On lack of mentorship: I set the affirmation. I wrote it down on my mirror and we look at it every day. Then the time came to a conference I was partnered with one of the most successful people at the conference. Then the Frugal Fab Five. Then Friendtors. They are beneficial, but you also have to understand what you want out of that relationship

[25:18] Your investment money should be your play money. You're not going to be a good investor if you're investing what you need

[28:36] You could purchase businesses on Shopify exchange.

[34:34] It's beautiful to see that scale, but don't push it. They can't think about what's their best decision because there's stress taking on all these things that they thought signified success but really didn't.

[41:35] It's lucrative to start a brand. Most of My Fab Finances, revenue comes from our brand partnerships. Then selling courses at a discounted rate for people so they can afford it. Then book sales

[45:39] I think that for anybody who's looking to start think about creative ways that you can work with brands. People have too many options. So you got to figure out how to make people buy from you.

[51:21] Once you start trying that voice gets quiet and the voice might pop back up, but keep trying. Decide to work with work through it and work with it instead of allowing it to work against them.

DN144 - Keenya Kelly: How To Use Social Media To Drive Revenue

DN144 - Keenya Kelly: How To Use Social Media To Drive Revenue

October 28, 2020

We are very blessed today to be able to pick the brain of Ms. Keenya Kelly, an accomplished business executive, teacher, speaker who's been helping people build successful businesses and powerful personal brand. She's been a great influencer that will leave you feeling empowered to reach your full potential. She's done it by being fun, and in the most creative ways, she could. You'll feel her charisma straight out of her in this podcast!

Keenya's family was poor. She remembers the many occasions where they lost their light and water because her family couldn’t afford it. Until she got into college and was recruited into a network marketing company. That’s when she discovered her innate ability to sell anything to anyone. She quickly worked her way up in this business arena. She was selling like crazy! Until one time, when she’d develop a really close relationship with God when she said she received like a divine message of her quitting her business. There’s a major reason why she felt why she was called out of network marketing: manipulative selling. She was selling heavily because she was being manipulative! She placed a heavier value on her relationship with God than with her career at that time, that’s why she was willing to call it quits. She ended her business and her team and went ahead to look for a corporate job.

She did work for somebody else for three years. Then her restlessness kicked in, she felt she’s ready to take on another shot on entrepreneurship. With a new approach to selling, she builds her new business. Today, she’s a successful mentor, helping other businesses build their brand and scale up by being authentic and honest. That’s what she’s touching on in this podcast. She shared the correct way of selling, how to use social media especially TikTok, how to be seen everywhere, and why it is so important today than ever to be willing to be mentored. Be prepared to ignite to take action after you listen to this podcast! I am so excited for you to benefit from this!

Here’s What You Missed

  • What is the right way of selling
  • How being honest makes you more likeable
  • The power of TikTok, and how to go viral on this platform
  • How to be visible everywhere
  • How to use Instagram Reels before you get better on TikTok
  • Put yourself in a place to be mentored- how?

Knowledge Nuggets

[9:46] I feel like what God was trying to do was deprogram me as a whole. And say, let me reteach you how to sell, and you may go back into network marketing, but when you go back into whatever you do, you're not going to do it from a manipulation standpoint, you're going to do it as an honest, authentic, you're going to make even more money, but you have to relearn how to sell because I spent my whole life and early life in network marketing, learning the wrong way to sell.

[10:56] Work with a coach who's manipulative and honest. I feel like every entrepreneur needs a coach because you only know what you know, and you can skip a whole lot of steps if you work with somebody.

[12:41] Second, be honest. Thirdly, I would say you got to get deep down and ask yourself if you are trying to make somebody do something that they may not want to do.

[19:26] On TikTok: I start doing little things and the comments section it kept saying your joy is contagious. The more I kept hearing it, the more I kept, like starting to believe it. my email list started exploding. My books started selling like crazy on my website and on Amazon and everything was just blowing up.

[21:55] One of the biggest ways to go viral on Tik TOK is doing something within like five to seven seconds that makes somebody go, wait, what? It makes them watch it over and over and over again. Or it's something where it is super funny or it just makes you go. That's amazing. I got to give it to this person.

[23:14] I've got these funny things, but I've also got all this other stuff around it causing you to go, huh? I thought I liked this girl. Let me follow her.

[25:19] Visibility is King. Our goal is to get ourselves in front of as many people as possible, because if we get them there, we can pull them to our email list or to our other social media platforms.

[27:17] The features on Instagram Reels is a whole lot less than what's on TikTok. Go to Reels and take a Instagram story and then post it to Reels. And if you do those little things on real, by the time become the Tik Tok, you're like, Oh, I've got this because Tik Tok can be extremely overwhelming.

[32:01] I would say the number one thing I have for me, obviously with my relationship with God. But the second thing was all the books that I read in network marketing. And so all the books that I have read my whole life that I hadn't really thought about in my time of like crazy crisis that's all that I could hear.

[34:07] On what she could've done sooner: "Talking to myself a little bit more." I was letting what the environment I was putting myself in tell me who I was and minimize me when I knew that there was more on the inside of me. I wasn't investing in a coach. I wasn't any kind of mastermind.

[35:47] Most of us need more wisdom, more guidance, and the truth is all of us can get access to a library card. All of us have access to social media, podcasts, coaches. Put yourself in a place to be mentored. And then you'll realize I really do have what I need.accomplished business executive, teacher, speaker  helping people build successful businesses and powerful personal brand, influencer

DN143 - Anthony Trucks: How To Shift Your Path To Success

DN143 - Anthony Trucks: How To Shift Your Path To Success

October 26, 2020

Anthony Trucks is the face of overcoming adversities. At age three, he was put into a foster care system where he was abused, beaten, felt adrift, listless, and worthless. He just spends the day focusing on surviving. At the age of 14, he was adopted by an all-white poor family. Somewhere between being in foster care and being adopted, he overcame many challenges. He became a self-aware kid, he set goals, faced a wall then overcame it. That satisfaction became even evident when he reached his goal of making it into the varsity football team.

He often hears other kids’ remarks that because he was in foster care, that is why is no good in anything. He rolled his sleeves up and worked really hard to have the body built and the skills needed to make it to the varsity team. Due to unwavering determination, he was offered a full-ride scholarship to the University of Oregon, and the ultimate goal of going pro in the NFL. He had a wonderful family at this time, and he was feeling he had it all including a bright future. Little that he knows that more adversities are yet to come. Within a two-month period, I went from having it all in the NFL to being a personal trainer at my local gym to support my family. Due to his busy schedule, his marriage fell apart, and his kids missed him always. He then went again to the feeling of being miserable and a failure.

His discovery of someone who drew inspiration from his life was what gave him the push to go forward. That’s where his purpose shifted. He wanted to be happy, so he knew he needed to give out more. People wanted him to teach them how he does what he does. That’s where his coaching career started and his ultimate upgrade. He discovered that success only happens when who you are to your core, your identity, aligns with your life’s vision. That there’s more to just shifting your mindset. In this podcast, he shares about his life’s downsides, his upsides, and his identity shifts. He then started consulting and winning the personal development world.

Here’s What You Missed

  • Anthony’s early life and failures
  • What really is success and how it’s measured
  • What is Identity Shift? And it is vital to success?
  • What’s the difference between mindset shift and identity shift
  • What’s the key to greatness?
  • What are the four kinds of level and structures of people?

Knowledge Nuggets

[3:55] Everybody can attest to some point in life, not feeling like they mattered or not feel like they fit in or dealing with the reactive shifts.

[4:24] There's been multiple studies, especially on entrepreneurs that found that in mindset you can have all the tactics and tools and strategies. But if you do not self identify or self categorize or have an identity of the entrepreneur, then that mindset holds no ground.

[7:44] To your root, that it's who you want to do this thing, 1. It becomes easier and takes less willpower. But mostly we're so deathly afraid of step one, they never reached it for.

[9:23] Success is not what you get in the end. Success is who you have to or who you have to become to achieve it.

[10:45] If you want to do that thing, eventually, if you give up on doing it to watch everybody else live your dream.

[16:45] Get up every day and I'm trying to make my goals happen, to reach something based on how I feel each day, then I will never reach it. I call it, kicking the ball out and I run up to it.And so there's days when I wake up, but I do not feel like doing things, but it's not like I don't, I can't. It's in my calendar, which means it has to get done.

[17:52] And when it's who you are, it's less of a burden, more of a feels weird, if I don't. So it doesn't take willpower. I just kept stepping up to the plate and minimizing the pain of it. And eventually in doing so the thing became easy. It became joyful.

[21:50] You're not trying to achieve the achievement for the achievement. You're trying to achieve the achievement of the transformation of who you become when it's done, because who you are can do that again and again, and again, and the next time it gets easier.

[25:45] It's not that I'm some magical human man that the work that I've I'm now teaching is work that I lived and I went back and said, all right. I know it's worked. It's worked for me. I see it work for clients

[26:08] Mindset is a byproduct of having a good identity, like the ideal identity.

[31:06] But a lot of the progression was nothing more than what you heard. It was me showing up and doing the work, getting opportunities and being prepared from when they came. The information people don't realize that is most important. It's not what somebody gives you in the book. It's what you learn in the book. It's the information you get while applying what you learned in the book.

[34:57] I don't go to the emotions. I go to the fact that I know that my logical brain in that emotional space, not the present space knew that this had to be done.

[38:24] We take breaks when we don't need to take breaks because we haven't done anything yet.

[41:33] People's kind of levels and structures and the tiers to it

[48:55] Own your shift. There's nothing wrong with admitting. But if you keep lying to yourself or if you just keep accepting this limitation and you sell yourself on it, you'll get to keep that. So own the fact that you got something to work on it's your duty to fix it. It may not be your fault, but your responsibility.

Here’s What You Missed

  • How to live life with fulfillment
  • Is your why big enough?
  • On black wealth: history and current issues
  • How successful people become successful
  • What do the black community needs?
  • What is level five leadership?
  • Start now, how??

Knowledge Nuggets

[4:48] Your life is all that you can imagine all that you can see. We're not in this world to set it right, we're in this world to see it right.

[6:05] The Bible says work out your own salvation. It means you got all the power. I gave you all the tools you go to solve the problem. This is your time to go up the rooftop and shout to the world I'm here, this is what I've been sent to do.

[8:03] Gladwell says any problem can be solved if only enough people care. The only reason why you have a problem is that you think you've got a problem.

[12:07] We're all going to leave this world, not by dying, but by knowing the truth. What is the truth? As far as you can see.

[13:20] Whatever you put in the place every single day is going to, reinforce that one choice. It is a choice, and guess you can do that. And how can you do that? If your why is big enough.

[14:08] Peace is the absence of all negative emotions

[16:34[ Don't you ever forget somebody survived for you. If you were African American right now, all you got to do is go back and look at your past generation and somebody survived for you.

[18:09] The middle class keeps score by degrees and titles. The poor keep score by cars and clothes, but the wealthy, they keep score by the bank account. So you get judged 50 million different ways, man. But the bottom line is your character and your integrity. It's a sacred trust and you defend it at all costs.

[20:45] Progress is the key. Are you making progress? Are you making progress in every area of your life?

[24:16] On successful people: They got a dream and there are hungry and nothing is going to stop them. Once they hit their goals and objectives and they've got the same hunger they dominate and see conviction once you're convicted that leads to the passionate, committed mind. That mind can never be defeated.

[28:32] On what the Black community needs: we need financial literacy. There are two sides. What you call recognition and being exposed.

[36:00] It's your belief in your capabilities that make the difference. That's all the difference in the world. Everybody is capable, but those that we call successful, those things we know are enamored with those that we want to emulate.

On pivoting: It is maintaining your strategy. But altering your tactics, maintain the strategy. And change the tactics, regardless of what you've got invested at that particular time.

[1:04:53] We are the only racial-ethnic group that doesn't profile as black creatives, wealth creators.

[1:06:54] Everybody should write down what are the five great events of your life?

[1:09:43] Father says the greatest compliment that a man could ever receive in life is for someone to say to him that his children are well-behaved, well mannered.

[1:13;43] The longer that you can project yourself into future circumstances, the greater, the chance for success. It's the short-range goals that we dismiss

[1:17:22] What is level five leadership? People follow you not because you want them to follow you. They followed you because they want to follow you. And the only way they follow you, what do you stand for?

[1:19:00] start where you are with what you have, knowing that what you have is plenty enough. I don't care where it is. Start, where you want with what you have. if you're weak, I can show you how to be strong. If you're slow, I can show you how to become fast. But I don't have an anecdote for low self-esteem. That is something that you have got to do on your own and the quickest way for you to raise your self-image, just to praise your God. Because when you're praising you, God, you basically praising yourself.

DN141 - Mike Michalowicz: How To Identify Your Biggest Opportunities

DN141 - Mike Michalowicz: How To Identify Your Biggest Opportunities

October 19, 2020

The number one problem our podcast guest wants to be defeated is "entrepreneurial poverty". What exactly is that? That's a word he likes to use for an entrepreneur who had high hopes when he entered the world of entrepreneurship but found himself broke financially, emotionally, and physically. Mike Michalowicz actually found himself in that situation for nearly two decades. He lost his house, fortune, and launched failed businesses. But today, he has built a couple of mufti-million-dollar companies, a keynote speaker, and a very successful author. If you haven't already, definitely take a hold of his books which will really ignite and spark your entrepreneurial mindset to make your business healthier and your life wealthier.

Mike had an ‘early’ adult life. Right after college, he had his son and got married in his early twenties. He shared how he started from scratch, even moving into a retirement building because of the cheap rent. He and his small family had to live off peanut and jelly and ramen soup. His being entrepreneurial changed the course of their life. Although he did not do it perfect the first time {he had about 10 failed businesses) but these experiences made him ache for small entrepreneurs like himself. He set a clear mission for himself: Eradicate entrepreneurial poverty. He went through it, he knew how he struggled and he knew millions of other entrepreneurs are out there grinding and hoping to make it happen. Through his experiences and interviewing other entrepreneurs, he was able to write books of huge help.

In this podcast, Mike shares very good points on how to build a business, get it to get going, to make it healthy for you, and to get the most out of it using without requiring your full amount of time and energy. As he says and is the definite truth, the ultimate business has no dependency on you. How do we actually achieve the ultimate business? Mike talked about delegation, systems, debts, specifying, and diversifying. All of which are key ingredients to having a healthy business. He talked about his ups and downs in the world of business, his first hires and fires, and how he helped thousands of businesses fix, sustain, and grow their business. Mike has a special place for small businesses in his heart.

Here’s What You Missed

  • How to not need money when starting a business
  • What is delegation and how to apply it to your business
  • What the ultimate healthy business
  • The importance of systems
  • Differentiate debts
  • Specificity in growth, diversity in learning- why?

Knowledge Nuggets

[3:24] On Toilet Paper Entrepreneur Book: There's a certain scrappy community of entrepreneurs that are just hustling and getting out there every day to move their business forward are doing it smartly.

[5:18] You don't need money to get started. There's an innovative way of doing it. In fact, the lack of money forces you to be creative, and that's the power of entrepreneurship.

[8:30] On Fix This Next Book: We go in for the day's work, we have a vision or plan we want to achieve that day, but within minutes, email and at these questions and challenges present themselves, we never get our vision done. The biggest roadblock to growing our business to our vision is the distraction. Our business is only as strong as the weakest part. I wrote Fix This Next to identify the weak link in your business.

[11:55] If we move to our greatness, we will excel and what we have to do to do that is to start removing the stuff that we're just good at and are doing 'cause its required of us.

[12:55] Ultimately, the ultimate business has no dependency on you. We get there by slowly peeling ourselves out and inserting other people, systems and technology to support what we remove ourselves from.

[15:26] You can't build a healthy business without systems. Revenue is just vanity. What matters is how much of that money can I extract repeatedly with the least effort? And that's where systems come into place.

[17:59] True delegation is the assignment of outcomes, empowering employees to tackle the outcome, and when they face challenges to navigate themselves.

[22:26] Behavioral intercept. Look for an an opportunity for what Behavioral intercept to achieve things you wanted with what we already do now, without the need to change.

[24:30] There's three forms of debt: 1. Debt leveraging- where I know there's give me a specific increased return within a specific time period. 2. Debt bridging- where you cover a gap in time where you need cash flow, but you can return the money 3. Debt anchors- debts that is not calculated.

[27:15] The person that needs to show success is often weak. Those are usually the weakest businesses, it's usually just bluffing. Those who are just totally humble and meek are the most successful.

[30:46] The more I explore outside of my paradigm of what I know, I've discovered more and more strength in that learning. Specificity in growth, diversity in learning

[33:16] If you're bold and you're different, you'll get noticed. Money flows to the difference, not to the similar.

[35:21] Whatever the negative frame is, I start off with "I'm so happy that I don't have" in our subconscious mind. We'll start actually making that a win for us.
